| 講演タイトル | "Marine Biotechnology: how to commercialise marine science discoveries" Prof. James Grant Burgess School of Natural and Environmental Sciences, Newcastle University, UK [要旨] The chemical and biological diversity of the marine habitat is greater than any terrestrial one and is a growing source of commercially successful products and processes. However the pathway from scientific discovery to commercial profit is a complex and tortuous one. A number of case studies will be used to provide examples of the way we think from a combined scientific and business perspective to increase the likelihood of success in commercial biotechnological applications. The commercial application of marine enzymes, analysis of marine gel particles and possible biotechnological approaches to the problem of plastic pollution will be covered. In addition, a new approach to understanding how to overcome the barriers to successful growth in biotechnology businesses will be revealed. |
