| 講演タイトル | "From Teeth to Tendons: Mapping the Equine Proteome" ＜要旨＞ Proteomics provides a global approach to understanding the molecular composition of tissues and how these biochemical environments change with age, disease, and across species. My research journey has focused on applying proteomic approaches to different areas of biology, with a particular focus on equine health and ageing. My PhD research focused on investigating age-related changes in human dental tissues using proteomics, with the aim of understanding how these datasets could be used to generate hypotheses around the increased susceptibility to dental disease with age. Serendipitously, this work expanded into equine dental research, where I investigated equine odontoclastic tooth resorption and hypercementosis (EOTRH), as well as age-related changes in equine dental tissues. Building on this experience, my current postdoctoral research has expanded beyond the tooth, applying proteomic approaches across a broad range of tissues of clinical relevance to veterinary researchers and clinicians. Funded by the Horse Race Betting Levy Board, we are generating the data and developing a comprehensive reference map of protein expression across the horse. Encompassing 23 distinct tissues, the Equine Protein Atlas will provide an open-access resource to support future research into tissue biology, ageing, and disease in the horse, with a particular focus on the thoroughbred. In this presentation, I will discuss my research journey from investigating age-related changes in human dental tissues, through equine dental health and disease, to the development of an Equine Protein Atlas. I will highlight how proteomics can be used to investigate tissue-specific biology and provide new insights into ageing and disease across the horse. |
